Regional Dialogue: Climate Change and Governance in Lima, Peru

In late April 2014 BIC participated in the Regional Dialogue “Trends in Infrastructure Investments in the Region Climate Change and Governance” in Lima, Peru with more than 20 other Latin American organizations. The event was organized in two parts, one public and one internal workshop. The main objectives in the “regional dialogue” were:

• Articulation of the construction of a regional agenda

• Discuss collective strategies on issues of infrastructure investment and climate change in national development and / or national governments multilateral banks (governance, safeguards)

•Exchange of information and communication mechanisms between networks, coalitions and key organizations in the region.

During these events, a variety of issues regarding funding trends in the region were discussed pertaining to infrastructure, energy , and the implementation of socio- environmental standards. This discussion framework serves as an opportunity to share information, and advocacy strategies for regional coordination that determine the development regional agenda and financial flows according to international governance standards. Given this situation and in order to further the process of coordination, learning from previous lessons and effective risk identification and management of resources that would in turn achieve changes that have a regional impact , AAS ( Colombia ) , DAR ( Peru ) , CDS ( Ecuador ) , CEDLA ( Bolivia ) , IBASE ( Brazilian ) , FUNDAR ( Mexico ) , and FUNDEPS ( Argentina ) convened this dialogue with the intention of bringing together a group of key representatives or regional networks and organizations to work together on related issues in the region .
