The World Bank is funding another coal plant in an already polluted country. Are there no other alternatives?
This documentary, put together by Balkan Investigative Reporting Network and Crossing Bridges Productions, highlights the troubled relationship Kosovo has with coal: sitting on one of the richest veins of coal in the world, the region lacks power and yet is already suffering from pollution-induced health problems from its existing power plants. Nezir Sinani, of the Kosovar Institute for Development Policy, travels to where another World Bank funded coal plant is being built in Africa and examines the effects on the health of the population, while a Berkley professor outlines an alternative plan using solar and wind power.
