The Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF) is a partnership of donors and developing countries which has the goal of Reducing greenhouse gas Emissions from Deforestation and forest Degradation (REDD+), forest stock conservation, sustainable forest management and the enhancement of forest stock . The partnership will pilot performance-based incentive payments for forest conservation. REDD+ is an international climate change mitigation mechanism under negotiation at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
The FCPF Charter, in the interest of transparency, calls for a series of non-voting observers at the meetings of the Participant Committee and Carbon Fund; these include observers from NGOs, forest dependent Indigenous Peoples and other forest dwellers, the private sector, international organizations, the UNFCCC and the UN-REDD Programme.
Nominations for the Northern CSO Observer are now open, and will remain open until February 28th, 2014.
