The Annual Meetings are often an opportunity for civil society representatives to meet with World Bank staff to whom they wouldn’t otherwise have access. BIC developed a training session to make sure advocacy opportunities with World Bank Executive Directors are used to their fullest.
More than 30 international civil society participants came together to learn winning tactics for advocating one’s cause with World Bank Executive Directors. Based on information gathered from international advocacy partners and former World Bank employees, this session gave participants practical tools for influencing World Bank Executive Directors as they approve projects and shape the policies of the Bank.
Participants had the opportunity to present their own advocacy stories, positive and negative. Later, time was provided to strategize about agendas for meeting with EDs, and participants role-played meeting with EDs, both sympathetic and not.
The training session was based around BIC’s soon to be published ED Advocacy Toolkit.
