On December 4-6, 2013, the Center for International Resources for Civil Organizations (CERI, El Centro de Recursos Internacionales para Organizaciones Civiles), held its third international congress in Pachuca, Mexico. The congress, entitled “Resources from North America for Social Causes in Mexico,” sought to provide Mexican civil society attendees with information regarding the available financial, human, planning, and technological resources from Canada and the United States.
The Bank Information Center (BIC) was recommended as a panelist by the World Bank due to the organization’s long-standing experience collaborating with civil society organizations on World Bank issues. BIC’s Latin America Forest Program Associate, Rachel Baker, participated in a panel focused on multilateral resources, and gave a presentation on decision-making and organizational structure of the World Bank, the World Bank’s involvement in Mexico, the Bank Information Center’s role, and opportunities for civil society engagement around the World Bank. (See the presentation in Spanish here.) CERI, the coordinator of the Congress, is a non-profit organization based in Queretaro, Mexico. They provide a network of libraries, learning centers, and workshops for Mexican civil society, specialized in access to international sources of finance.
