The Phase 2 Consultation period of the World Bank Safeguards Review is now closed. The documents below were submitted as formal feedback to the World Bank Safeguards Team between September 2014 and March 2015.
The documents below were submitted during Phase 2 consultations and contain the concerns of civil society organizations, national governments, and the private sector on the draft Environmental and Social Framework (ESF) policy, originally released for consultation in July 2014. Some also raise issue with the Phase 2 consultation process. We have displayed some of the submissions here, organized by contributor and issue area. The full list can be found on the World Bank’s Safeguards Consultation website.
Phase 3 of the Safeguards Review will begin after the second draft of the ESF is released for public consultation, expected late June/early July 2015. The nature of this third round of consultations is not yet public knowledge. A CSO letter on Phase 3 consultations was submitted to the World Bank Safeguards Review team and the World Bank Board of Directors on May 22, 2015. The Bank’s Chief Environmental and Social Standards Officer responded on June 23, 2015 with this letter.
